Day-wise Itinerary of Palace on Wheels - 9 Days
A train journey through Delhi, Rajasthan, Agra and Taj Mahal. It operates weekly from September through April. All meals are included while aboard the train.Day 1 - Tue - Delhi
Arrival in New Delhi. Upon arrival, meeting and transfer to hotel. Accommodation will be available for occupancy by 12 noon. Spend the rest of the day at leisure to recuperate from the journey.
Day 2 - Wed - Jaipur
Tour of the city. Visit Presidential Palace, Red Fort, Jama Masjid, and Chandini Chowk. In the evening transfer to Jaipur by car / coach. Overnight stay at a hotel.
Day 3 - Thu - Jaipur
Tour of the city. Visit City Palace, Palace of Winds, Observatory, Rambagh Palace and Amber Fort. See the Amber Fort on elephant back. Board the Palace On Wheels, which will and depart from Jaipur at 5.30 PM for Jaiselmer. Dinner will be served on board the train.
Day 4 - Fri - Jaisalmer
Arrive in Jaiselmer at 6:15 AM. Sightseeing tour of Jaiselmer Fort and the exquisitely carved Havelis and palaces. In the afternoon, take a camel safari to see the sand dunes. Attend a cultural program with dinner in the evening. Depart for Jodhpur at 11.00 PM. Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be served on board.
Day 5 - Sat - Jodhpur
Arrive in Jodhpur at 8:00 AM Sightseeing tour of city including visits to Umaid Bhavan Palace, Jaswant Thada and Mehrangarh Fort. Depart at 3:30 PM for Sawai Madhopur. Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be served on the train.
Day 6 - Sun - Ranthambore / Chittaurarh
Arrival at Sawai Madhopur at 4:00 AM. After breakfast visit the Ranthambore Tiger Project Wildlife Reserve. Depart at 11:00 AM for Chittaurgarh. Arrive at Chittaurgarh at 3:30 PM. Tou the city and visit the Chittaurgarh Fort. Breakfast, lunch and dinner on board the train.
Day 7 - Mon - Udaipur
Sightseeing tour of Udaipur, including the City Palace. Enjoy a boat cruise in Lake Pichola and visit the Lake Palace hotel. At 8:00 PM depart for Bharatpur. Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be served on board.
Day 8 - Tue - Bharatpur, Agra & Taj Mahal
Arrive in Bharatpur at 6:00 AM. Visit the World Heritage Ghana National Bird Sanctuary and Fatehpur Sikri. Transfer to Agra. Check-in at the hotel. Sightseeing tour of Agra, Taj Mahal and Agra Fort in the afternoon. Breakfast, lunch and dinner at the hotel. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 9 - Wed - Delhi
Spend the morning engaged in independent activities, leisure and a visit to the Taj Mahal on your own. Check-out from the hotel by 12:00 noon. Transfer to Delhi airport by car / coach. It is a 4-hours drive. Depart for your onward journey.
Coaches of Palace on Wheels - On board, you'll feel like an erstwhile monarch, travelling in regal splendour. Each Coach named after the erstwhile princely state has 4 twin-bedded chambers, thoughtfully decorated in ethnic Rajasthani décor. Channel music, intercom, attached toilets, running hot and cold water, shower and wall-to-wall carpeting are some of the facilities to make you feel at home. Each salon has personal attendants or Khidmatgars, who are at your beck and call to extend a courteous helping hand, should you need anything.
Facilities Offered -
- Accommodation : 14 fully air conditioned deluxe salons, each a combination of 4 twin bedded chambers with channel music, intercom, attached toilets, running hot and cold water, shower, wall to wall carpeting and other amenities.
- Luggage Collection : Your luggage is picked up and taken to your respective salons without your worrying about it.
- Arrival Kit : Each guest is provided with an arrival kit consisting of stationery items, brochures, cards etc. Anything additional can be asked for, from the attendant, always available at your service.
- Attendant 'Khidmatgar' : An attendant or 'Khidmatgar' is always available at your service, to take care of your travel needs.
- Meals : An exotic array of dishes to choose from - Continental, Chinese, Indian and Rajasthani cuisines are available on the Palace-On-Wheels.
- Mineral Water : The greatest gift of nature bestowed on us i.e. water is made available to you in its purest form. Mineral water is made available to you all through the journey.
- Newspapers/Magazines : The leading dailies and newspapers greet you every morning over a simmering hot cup of tea or beverage of your choice. Also available for you is a large collection of magazines.
- Security : Adequate safety arrangements are made for you as well as your personal belongings in the train itself.
- Toiletries : All essential toiletries like soaps, shampoos, moisturizers etc. are provided in the train.
- Wine : A complimentary bottle of fine Indian wine to the royal guests (per cabin), courtesy Palace-On-Wheels.
- For Disabled Persons : There is special; assistance available in the form of wheel chairs, crèches and a special attendant for manual assistance.
- Restaurants : Two lavish and beautifully done restaurants; "The Maharaja" and "The Maharani" serve mouth watering Continental, Chinese, Indian and Rajasthani cuisines that would definitely make way to your heart through your stomach.
- Shopping : Certain handicrafts and other special items of Rajasthani origin can be bought from State Govt. owned Emporia while you visit the places covered by the Palace-On-Wheels.
- Common Facilities : Bar, Indoor Games, Chess, Playing Cards, Chinese Checkers, Carrom Board and Crossword Puzzles are available.
A lounge for relaxing, interacting, making friends, getting together and indulging in games. A mail box is provided on board, for posting your mail. First Aid is available on the train whereas a doctor can be arranged on call at very next station.
